Turkish seafood companies plan large SEG presence

Turkey is planning to have a large presence at the 2016 Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global in Brussels 26 to 28 April, as 14 Turkish companies have signed up as exhibitors.

Turkey’s primary objective at the expo is to increase branded exports in the seafood sector and its export share in the products with high added-value, according to Ahmet Tuncay Sagun, Chairman of the Istanbul Fishery and Animal Products Exporters’ Association.

The Turkish producers exhibiting at SEG: Alima Seafood, Agromey Fish, Bagci Fish, Basaran Balikcilik, Bal-Pi Gida, Gümüşdoğa Fish, Group Sagun, Kiliç Seafood Co., Kopuzmar-Luckyfısh Co., Kuzey Balık, Sagdiclar Balikcilik, Sastas S.A., Sasu Water and Agricultural Products and the Turkish Seafood Promotion Committee.

According to a press release from the Istanbul Exporters’ Association, these companies have combined expertise in sea bass, sea bream, trout, fresh and chilled products, and marinated seafood products.

Turkey exports its seafood to 85 countries. Turkey’s aquaculture sector, which began production in the 1980s, now has 2,353 farms responsible for 44 percent of the country’s total seafood production in 2014, the last year from which totals are available.

The Turkish contingent at Seafood Expo Global can be found at booths 2101, 2201 and 2301.
