Trident fined again for environmental violations

Trident Seafoods was fined more than USD 43,000 (EUR 37,000) for wastewater violations, for the third time since 2015 in Oregon alone.

Oregon’s Department of Environmental Quality issued USD 43,200 (EUR 37,300) worth of fines for violations at the supplier’s surimi factory in Newport, Oregon.

Trident was also fined nearly USD 300,000 (EUR 259,000) earlier this year to settle a complaint levied by the United States Environmental Protection Agency claiming that it violated the Clean Water Act regulations at two Alaska plants.

Seattle, Washington-based Trident allegedly exceeded the limits of treated fish-processing wastewater, The Seattle Times reported. It exceeded various pollutant amounts dozens of times between July 2017 and October 2017, according to the government order.
