Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP) is reshaping the world of corporate responsibility in the seafood industry through the creation of powerful information tools and a methodology that enables companies to directly engage with suppliers of natural resources. The Vision is one of healthy marine and aquatic ecosystems, secure seafood supplies, and a thriving, responsible seafood economy. The Mission is to engage and catalyze global seafood supply chains in rebuilding depleted fish stocks and reducing the environmental impacts of fishing and fish farming.

Fishery Improvement Projects have evolved substantially over the past 10 years, particularly with the seafood industry now leading and driving most improvement efforts. Tough issues remain though, including the adoption of best practices demonstrated in FIPs to fishery management frameworks. In this session, panelists discuss examples of how industry is demonstrating improvements in particularly challenging areas such as new national/regional policy development, small-scale fisheries, and addressing impacts on endangered species.
