A Canadian smoked salmon supplier is recalling one of its smoked Atlantic salmon products due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
Scarborough, Ontario-based DOM International Ltd. is recalling its DOM Reserve brand Atlantic Salmon Strips (Hot Smoked) Cracked Black Pepper. The supplier’s smoked salmon products are sold at Costco and other retailers.
There have been no reported illnesses from consuming the smoked salmon, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) said in a press release. The agency cautioned that while the product “may not look or smell spoiled,” it can still contain listeria and make people sick.
The recall was triggered by CFIA test results.
“The CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products,” the agency said in a press release.
CFIA verified that industry is removing recalled product from the marketplace.
The code on the recalled product is 002451, and it has various “best before” dates.
