- Aquamar has appointed Guy Lott as its vice president of sales.

"We are excited to welcome Guy to the Aquamar team and are confident that his experience and track record will accelerate Aquamar's efforts to drive seafood consumption through innovation," Aquamar CEO Daryl Gormley said in a release. "There is an opportunity for us to continue our sales momentum, and we're confident Guy is the best person to help us do that as we stay on our mission to ensure everyone has access to healthy, high-quality protein."

Before joining Aquamar, Lott worked as the chief commercial officer for the aquaculture company Forever Oceans. Lott has also served on the National Fisheries Institute’s board of directors.

"I believe Aquamar has an amazing opportunity to build on an authentic heritage as a surimi producer and offer consumers a new choice in restaurants and the refrigerated seafood case. Aquamar has developed a delicious and versatile line of products that will appeal to a wide variety of consumers," Lott said. "I'm happy to be a part of the leadership team as we bring these products to market and land on retail shelves and foodservice menus across the U.S. and beyond."

- Roy Tore Rikardsen has been appointed CEO of Ice Fish Farm AS. Rikardsen has a background in salmon farming operations and management and has worked in the industry for over 20 years, the company said in a release.

“We are looking forward to further developing the company and the industry in Iceland with Roy Tore as a part of our team,” Ice Fish Farm Chair Asle Rønning said. “Icelandic salmon farming is still in an entrepreneurial phase, and the key to success is excellent operations based on good animal welfare and safety for the environment, as well as for our dedicated employees. Roy Tore has extensive experience from all parts of the value chain and will contribute to further developing our strong team on operations. He will be based on the east coast of Iceland.”

Rikardsen takes over from Guðmundur Gíslason, who will continue CEO operations during the transition.

- Sarah Webster has been appointed as science director for the Alaska Seafood Cooperative (AKSC), replacing John Gauvin in the role.

Webster has a background in Alaska fisheries and was previously a fisheries scientist for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, working on recreational groundfish research, the AKSC said in a release.

“Working with stakeholders has always been a highlight of my work,” Webster said. “From my perspective, the knowledge gained and ideas generated from industry are invaluable to furthering science, practical management, and sustainable fisheries. I am also excited to continue the type of research John Gauvin has established at AKSC. His approach to working with industry on constant improvement to lower habitat impacts, reduce bycatch, and increase targeted fishery efficiencies is appealing to me.”

Despite stepping down, Gauvin will continue some of the science projects already underway at AKSC, the organization said.

- Alf-Helge Aarskog, the former CEO of salmon-farming firm Mowi, is poised to join the board of directors at Bakkafrost.

“The election committee recommends that in addition to the chairman, Guðrið Højgaard, Annika Frederiksberg, Einar Wathne, Øystein Sandvik, and Teitur Samuelsen are reelected. The election committee also recommends Alf-Helge Aarskog as a new board member,” Bakkafrost General Meeting notes stated.

- Laurie Little, a veteran in the seafood industry and a trader for seafood wholesaler Fastnet Fish, which is headquartered in Enfield, England, has died.

“Laurie had been part of the Fastnet family for nearly 20 years, and many of us knew him long before that,” Fastnet Fish wrote in a post on Facebook. “Having been involved in the fish industry for most of his life, he was known and respected by many worldwide. His dedication to his work was second to none, and his knowledge, determination, commitment, and stubbornness served him well; he was a force to be reckoned with – a true trader. These qualities undoubtedly helped him to gain his reputation within the industry and then latterly to fight his health battles, especially over the last couple of years.”
