NOAA has selected 21 companies eligible for fisheries-related funding under a massive USD 8 billion (EUR 7.4 billion) program that will provide the agency a variety of professional, scientific, and technical support services.
The Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services Program (ProTech) is the primary way NOAA contracts logistical support services. With the current set of ProTech contracts set to expire, NOAA has been working to replace them with ProTech 2.0 contracts across four domains: fisheries, satellite, weather, and oceans. Companies awarded ProTech 2.0 contracts will be eligible to receive orders from NOAA over the next five years, although the government has the option to extend those contracts another five years.
On 26 February, NOAA awarded contracts for the ProTech Fisheries Domain, which will be used to acquire “national and international fishery management support, marine observations, environmental data collection, ecosystem studies, associated data and information services, and various impact analyses for science-based conservation and management of fishing communities,” according to NOAA’s website.
ProTech Fisheries Domain funding will be spread across four task areas:
- Studies, analyses, and reports
- Applied research, engineering, consulting, and operations
- Field sampling, data collection, and surveys
- Consulting, program, and project management
The 21 companies eligible for ProTech 2.0 Fisheries Domain funding were A.I.S., Azura Consulting, Cardinal Point Captains, CASE Consultants International, FedWriters, FLOAT Partners, Natural Resources Consultants, Northern Economics, Ocean Associates, Responsive Management, RFSERTJV, RPI-CSS, Saildrone, Saltwater, Salus Resources, Smultea Environmental Sciences, Solv, Stewardship and Sustainability Solutions, TechGlobal, ThinkTank, and 1stMission.
