The 30th edition of Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global will be the largest version of the event in its history, according to Portland, Maine, U.S.A.-based organizer Diversified Communications on Thursday, 8 February.
For the event’s third edition at the Fira Barcelona Gran Via in Barcelona, Spain, taking place from 23 to 25 April 2024, Diversified Communications has sold more than 50,530 square meters of exhibit space, following up on previous records set at the 2023 events.
"Our previous editions held in Barcelona have proven to be successful in bringing seafood suppliers, processing and services companies together to conduct business and form relationships in person on a global scale,” Diversified Vice President of Seafood Wynter Courmont said. "We are already seeing growth with exhibiting companies at this year’s expo and have expanded our exhibit floor into Hall 1 to accommodate the demand.”
Previous editions of Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global featured more than 2,000 exhibiting companies from 89 countries and attendance surpassing 34,000 visitors. [Editor’s note: Diversified Communications also owns and operates SeafoodSource.]
According to Diversified, 79 exhibiting countries have confirmed participation to date and the number is still growing. Newly confirmed regional pavilions include Brazil, France, Republic of Korea, and Japan, and Albania, Azerbaijan, Brazil, and the Dominican Republic will have seafood companies at the event for the first time.
Companies that will attend the 2024 Seafood Expo Global include AquaChile, Balfego & Balfego, Blumar, Cermaq, Clearwater, Cooke Seafood, Cornelis Vrolijk, Denholm Seafoods, Direct Ocean, Frime, Frinsa Del Noroeste, Gelazur, Godaco Seafood, Greenland Sofina, Groupe Barba, Iceland Seafood International, Japofish, Lerøy Seafood Group, Maresmar, Metarex, Mowi, Parlevliet & van der Plas, Pescanova España, Phillips Foods, Regal Springs, Salmar, Sea Harvest Corporation, Seafood Connection, Vinh Hoan Corporation, Worldwide Fishing Company, Talley's, and Unima.
The conference program will include more than 20 sessions joined by world and industry experts, ranging in topics including aquaculture, sustainability, food safety, compliance policy, and feature a keynote address from William R. Rhodes Professor of International Economics and Watson Institute Mark Blyth.
A number of participating aquaculture, aquaculture equipment companies, and companies working toward sustainability will be showcasing their latest innovations at this year’s expo, including Innovaqua, which provides aquaculture companies with data, monitoring, and dosing feeders technologies and services; ColdEp, which uses a unique process to capture and collect viruses, bacteria and suspended particles in the water; and A & S Thai Works, a designer and manufacturer of fishmeal and rendering plants in Asia-Pacific, Diversified said.
