Gwynn’s Island, Virginia, U.S.A-based Mind Blown Plant Based Seafood Co. has just announced its seafood analog products will be included in an expansion of wholesale food distributors Sysco and Fancy Foods Inc. across the U.S. states of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, and Washington D.C..
“We’re thrilled that more people will have the option to choose a seafood alternative and see that anything seafood can do, Mind Blown can do just as well,” Mind Blown Co-Founder and CEO Monica Talbert said. “This is just the beginning of an aggressive foodservice channel push, which will give diners more options to enjoy a delicious seafood experience while at the same time relieving pressure off our precious oceans.”
As a part of the expansion, its plant-based crab cake analogs will be on the menus of restaurants such as All Surf No Turf in Clifton, New Jersey.
Mind Blown launched its plant-based crab cake analog products in June, and shortly after in July the cakes became available nationwide at all Sprouts Farmers Markets which was its first national distribution. Prior to launching the crab cake analog, it launched a plant-based fried oyster analog in December 2021.
The company was founded in 2020 by the owners of Van Cleve Seafood Co., and received funding from Hatch, a global fund dedicated to investing and accelerating sustainable innovations in the seafood industry.
