- High Liner Foods announced on 20 December that Paul Jewer (pictured) has been appointed as the company’s president and CEO, effective immediately. Jewer was named the company's interim CEO in September, following the abrupt resignation of former CEO Rod Hepponstall.
"I am incredibly honored by today's appointment and appreciate the confidence that the board of directors has placed in me,” Jewer said. "We have some exciting work ahead of us, and I know that we have the right strategy and people in place to build upon the solid foundation that has been built for nearly 125 years. I look forward to continuing to work with the High Liner team as we deliver on our purpose: 'Reimagining Seafood to Nourish Life' and creating value for all of our stakeholders.”
Jewer previously worked as High Liner’s CFO, and the company has begun the search for a replacement, it said.
- Iceland Seafood International (ISI) has announced its CFO Reynir Jonsson will be stepping down in March 2024. The move comes a few months after ISI CEO Bjarni Ármannsson resigned in September 2023 after five years in the position and was replaced with former Brim COO Ægir Páll Friðbertsson.
"Reynir has served as a CFO of Iceland Seafood Group for over 10 years. During these years, Iceland Seafood has grown significantly and built up a strong position in the European market. I would like to thank Reynir for his contribution and good work for the company during this time,” Friðbertsson said in a release.
- Humberto Fischer, a founder of Chilean salmon giant AquaChile, died on 14 December at the age of 67. Fischer played a major role in the development of Chile's salmon and gambling industries, co-founding the casino operator Dreams in 2008.
“Today, Humberto Fischer, one of the founders of Chile's salmon industry, who from its origins helped found and build AquaChile companies, passed away. [He was] a great man, a great professional, and of uncompromising human quality,” AquaChile General Manager Sady Delgado wrote on LinkedIn. "For all of us who knew him, we have great memories. His serenity in facing difficult moments, his formative support for the young generations, and his generosity with those who accompanied him for years are just part of his nobility and mettle. On behalf of AquaChile, our sincere condolences to his family.”
- Baton Rouge, Louisiana, U.S.A.-based Walk On’s Sports Bistreaux, a restaurant and sports bar chain co-owned by longtime New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, has hired Jamie Davis as its vice president of supply chain and procurement and Tyler Schack as its vice president of technology.
"We are thrilled to welcome Jamie Davis and Tyler Schack to the Walk-On's family. Their extensive experience and proven track records in their respective fields align seamlessly with our commitment to delivering top-notch experiences for our guests and assembling a high-caliber team to drive Walk-On's to new heights,” Walk-On's CEO Chris Dawson said in a release.
Davis has 15 years of foodservice industry experience and was previously the vice president of supply chain and procurements at Insomnia Cookies.
