Plant-based foods brand Boldly, based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, has announced the upcoming launch of a vegan seafood line featuring products mimicking salmon, tuna sashimi, calamari, shrimp, crab sticks, and whitefish filets, according to the Vegconomist. The products will be launched in summer 2023.

Los Angeles, California, U.S.A.-based Kikka Sushi distributor announced on 23 January the launch of several vegan sushi projects soon to be available at select Whole Foods Markets. Kikka has been on a five-year mission to create vegan products and has just made the transition to using vegan sugar from all-white sugar. Its new vegan line consists of salmon and tuna analogs created from konjac root and red algae.

Rockland, Delaware, U.S.A.-based The ISH Food Company received more than USD 5 million (EUR 46 million) in seed funding to increase plant-based seafood offerings. The funds will mostly be allocated towards propelling the company’s plant-based seafood line to greater market share in Europe and Asia, according to Techcrunch. In August 2022, the company partnered with Thai Union and subsidiary Chicken of the Sea to jointly develop and market plant-based seafood products.
