The Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI) has launched the Alaska Seafood Online Marketplace, a new web-based directory designed to connect buyers to suppliers of Alaskan seafood around the world.
The marketplace, ASMI said, is designed for wholesalers, importers, and distributors – along with home chefs and small independent restaurants – to discover Alaskan seafood suppliers at the click of a button. The website takes the place of ASMI’s “Suppliers Directory,” the institute said.
“As the number of seafood purchases taking place online continues to grow, the new Marketplace provides opportunities for all Alaska seafood businesses to showcase their products to seafood purchasers of all types,” ASMI said in a news release.
The Marketplace, ASMI said, allows any Alaska seafood business to better promote its products through a more robust web directory where shoppers can search by the product desired, company name, and other criteria.
“We are thrilled to offer a platform for Alaska seafood industry participants, purchasers, and fans to connect and share their products and companies in an open forum,” ASMI Digital Marketing Manager Tanna Peters said.
The suppliers create profiles featuring the company’s name and branding, which will be prominently displayed through the site along with its offerings. Buyers can also create accounts, where they can ask about certain procurement needs and connect directly to Alaska-based seafood providers.
The marketplace’s new “For Consumers” section simplifies the search process by providing quick access to companies that ship Alaska seafood directly to individuals, ASMI said.
“We look forward to helping new suppliers and buyers utilize the Marketplace as it continues to grow,” Peters said.
