The search is on for AquaChile to find a partner in Mexico versed in the production and export of tilapia to do business with, according to El Economista.
The company is looking to meet growing demand for tilapia in the United States, as well as reach more European markets, with a move into Mexico, and is eager to establish regional associations, according to the news outlet. As one of the main suppliers of tilapia to the U.S., AquaChile was able to achieve a market share in the country of nearly 20 percent in 2015 and 2014.
AquaChile owns and operates salmon farms in Chile, and it currently farms tilapia in Costa Rica and Panama. While the company is considered one of the biggest producers of farmed salmon in the world, its sales of tilapia have been down as of late.
