Anova Seafood has entered into an agreement with Seafood Connection to transfer its processing and sales of frozen seafood.
Anova Seafood Co-Owners Constant Mulder and Willem Huisman said the move will allow the ’s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands-based seafood supplier to concentrate on its “core capabilities” – namely, the international distribution of fresh and chilled seafood.
“Over the last few years, Anova Seafood has become a significantly player both in fresh and frozen seafood products mainly to the European market,” the company said in a press release. “Anova Seafood is aiming to further specialize itself in the next couple of years by focusing on the processing and sales of fresh and chilled products from its production facilities in the Netherlands.”
The company’s shift will go int effect beginning 1 January, 2019, it said. It will continue to sell products under its own Anova, Sea & We, and Del Mare brands, in addition to producing several private-label products.
“We see a lot of potential for Anova to strengthen and expand our position in the fresh and chilled seafood segment, and therefore we have redirected our strategic focus towards the fresh and chilled seafood segment,” Mulder said.
Seafood Connection, based in Urk, The Netherlands, is an importer, exporter and distributor of frozen fish products. It has been owned by Japanese conglomerate Maruha Nichiro since 2013.
“We see a lot potential by adding Anova’s product portfolio to our current business and it will strengthen our position in sourcing, processing and sales of seafood products,” Seafood Connection CEO Jan Kaptijn said.
Terms of the deal were not announced by either company.
