Ace Aquatec has continued to make inroads into the aquaculture industry as Greek aquaculture company Philosofish has adopted its humane stunner technology.
Philosophish, which farms sea bream and bass, installed two of Ace Aquatec’s in-water humane stunners in April 2023. According to a release from the two companies, the new stunner has been “transformative” for the company’s production, both increasing efficiency and quality.
Philosofish aims to create the most modern aquaculture facilities in Greece, and provide high-quality seafood that’s farmed with a low environmental footprint in an ethical manner. That philosophy, Philosofish CEO Nikos Liberis said, made Ace Aquatec’s stunning technology a good fit for the company.
“We opted for Ace Aquatec’s humane stunning technology as it aligns with our inherent responsibility towards our fish and our commitment to setting industry benchmarks for animal welfare. Making this investment underlines our vision to inspire change and push the boundaries in the Greek aquaculture industry,” Liberis said.
The stunner, he said, continues the company’s drive to be a “pioneer” in the aquaculture sector.

Ace Aquatec’s in-water stunner, which won a Global Aquaculture Innovation Award in 2019, is designed to stun a fish in a stress-free manner.
